Bhaijaan Dildaar : Salman Khan Announces 1 Lakh Prize Money For Indian Olympic Athletes

The Bollywood superstar is also a goodwill brand ambassador for Indian Olympics

That Salman Khan has a huge heart of gold is a pretty well-known fact, with many good deeds attributed to the actor being a part of popular folklore. But on Wednesday, the day that India broke open the medal chest at last with wrestler Sakshi Malik claiming a silver medal, ‘Bhaijaan’ took to Twitter to announce that he will be presenting cheques of 1 lakh each to the Indian athletes who represented India at this year’s Olympics.

Terming the move as a ‘gesture of appreciation’ for the efforts of the athletes at the Games, the 50-year old popular celebrity also went on to support the government in its role of supporting both sports and the athletes in the country. Below are some of his tweets:

It is to be noted that Salman, alongwith A R Rahman, Abhinav Bindra and Sachin Tendulkar were named as the goodwill ambassadors for the Indian contingent to the Olympics a couple of months ago.

This announcement also comes on the heels of Yash Raj Films, which produced this year’s blockbuster ‘Sultan’ starring Salman Khan & Anushka Sharma in the lead, announcing 10 lakh as cash prize for the Indian athletes who claim gold at the Rio Olympics.

However, it remains to be seen whether that prize will be claimed as the event is in its final few days, with India scoring just a solitary medal at this point.
