1) His name is derived from his initials


‘Eminem’ is actually another way of pronouncing M and M, which are initials for his name Marshall Mathers. He actually has three aliases: Eminem, M&M and The Slim Shady.

2) Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” was the first rap song to win an Academy Award


On March 23, 2003 Eminem’s song made history at the Academy Awards function. Luis Resto, one of the co-writers of the song, received the award on behalf of Eminem as he wasn’t present at the event. The artist was actually dozing off on a couch at his Detroit home!

3) He was sued by his mother for defamation


For the song ‘My Name Is’, his mother sued Eminem for defamation because of the line “My mother does more dope than I do.”
